To know no trace of now will remain
takes a lot of pressur off the present.
If January 1st marks the Gregorian New Year, and the Chinese New Year falls somewhere
between January 21st and February 20th, then the nine days of SXSW may as well serve as
our New Year, when a collective eye turns to the city we call home to take stock of what’s
changed, what’s stayed the same, and what’s worth listening to.
Since our last issue, our family has grown immensely, in large part due to the success of
those already here and, in all likelihood, you. Whether you are a partner, a friend, an artist
we’ve been lucky enough to showcase in our gallery, a Preacher family member or an actual
family member, our success is because of you.
Thank you.
We are extremely lucky to have surrounded ourselves with so many exceptional people of
extraordinary talent who allow our house to grow through a divine mixture of insatiable
hunger, unflinching kindness and endless effort. The reward is hand-crafted, full-flavored,
female-empowering, male-comforting, life-welcoming, cold-brewed, bullshit-free work for
our partners that we can’t help but subliminally shout out in our opening note.
That said, you will not be seeing any of it here.
Because the following pages give us the immense pleasure of taking a break from spreading
our own good word to instead spread the good word of friends whose talents we hold very dear.
Through a number of mediums, you’ll find that all of those included have something to say,
and, as always, we’re lucky to hear it. Consider this collection our annual offering to you, so you
may take stock of what’s changed, what’s stayed the same, and what’s worth listening to.

One time, two homeless hitchhikers and I formed a kind of society in a post-apocalyptic world. I was the new guy in the operation, the greenhorn.
Moments of soul captured at shutter speed. The light and dark of lives seen far and wide.
